LITERARY CLUB] HEARS VARIED} og ha ‘The Casper Literary club held its first wé@kly session. following the Thanksgiving holidays, last evening at its quarters in the Library build- ing. Eighteen of the faithful were present, presided over by President R. 8. Ellison. +B. J. O'Connor and Frank B. Tay- ‘lor were elected to membership, haying each won the necessary two- thirds vote of the club. Previous to surrendering the parek to the temporary chairman Lindsay who presided during the it verary exercises, President Ellison called atention to two works of art presented to ‘the club by members and called upon A. J. Hazlett and ‘W. ©. Wilson to unveil the master- pieces to the admiration of the mem- bers. This ceremony accomplished Mr, Lindsey assumed the chair and ‘W. H. Huntley was appointed critic for the evening, Mr. Hazlett having ‘begged to be excused on account of rheumatism in both lower limbs. A. Baker was in charge of Cur- rent events and presented the sub: ject of ‘The Failure of the Cou: in g most able and instructive man- which followed their feet to ani that Aad been laid at the door step of the courts. ‘The formal paper of the even! which was next on the program, read by W. J. Wehril, and consumed almost an hour. It was a very ex- haustive and able exposition of "The Government's Attit: ‘Toward the World War Veterans,” including the laws governing all activities and their infraction by unfaithful offi- cials.
