The frozen-faced comedian staged most of his comedy abroad the “Bu foré,” 460-foot liner chartered in San Francisco, It was taken from Sap Francisco to Los Angeles, and thence to Catalina Island. Later it toured the Pacific off the coast of California with Buster and his chmpany aboard. Next Buster engaged a submarine and a, number of divers and diving equipment. At Riverside, California, Buster built a huge tank for the filming of other underwater scenes. This tank was so large it finally gave away before the pressure of water, and an unwished-for flcod resulted. Other scenes that necessitated the transference of full equipment were made at Truckee and Lake Tahoe in the Callfornin mountains. This widely heralded film will be he main feature at the Rialto th beginning tomorrow. As a story for Meighan, it is un- doubtedly the strongest in which this favorite screen star has ever appeared. Herbert Brenon, who pro- duced the picture for Paramount, made a very careful selection of the supporting cast. Estelle Taylor, John Sainpolis, Charles Ogle, Frank Camp- eau and Anna May Wong aro fea- tured in Meighan's support. “The Alaskan” is q tale of the new empire which has come into being in the far north during the last thir- ty years.
