PAGE TWO, THANKSGIVING SPIRIT RULES AT LIONS CLUB Turkey dinnera provide ample cause for Thanksgiving and at the #ame time fail to give full expression to the tenets of the day which will be observed tomorrow throughout N the country, {t was pointed out by the Rev. Philip K. Edwards, rector of St. Mark’s church, who delivered a Thanksgiving day message this noon to the members of the Lions club, Drawing his analogy from the measure of a man who seeks only the material blessings of life as com- pared with that of one who rejoices in his life work for the sake of serv- ice rather than a means to a living, the speaker drew a parallel situation in Thanksgiving day observance. Feasting without real appreciation of the blessings involved, he showed, represents only a part of the satis- faction that should be felt. Conditions and developments which give cause for Thanksgiving were stressed, among them the triumph in the recent election over a move- ment designed to destroy the con- stitution. The speaker rejoiced in the fact that back of a material Prosperity which in times past has dragged other nations down, Ameri- can people have the courage, ability, energy and the spirit of service and brotherhood necessary to use their wealth and resources in carrying on under principles on which the gov- ernment was founded. Referring to spiritual connections of the day, Rev. Edwards glorified the freedom of worship made pos- sible by the constitution, making for the free growth of religion to fhe Casper Daily Cribune George Jarvis and Mark O. WEDNESDAY; N' R26, 1924 “x0/ Sure Relief: -| FOR INDIGESTION Thanksgiving Day will dawn in Casper with preparations well under way for various forms of celebration. Fat, juicy turkeys will grace many tables. Others will feast up on roast pig and sweet potatoes. It will prove to be a day of happiness in this city, as it rightfully should. Beneath the seeming outer structure of merry-making we find a deeper and holier meaning. We need but glance back upon the stories which have been handed down to us of the suffering and sacrifices which our forefathers endured that a new nation might be born. Then after a hard winter when it seemed that hope was gone, they gathered and thanked Almighty God! for the blessings to which they still clung. So we today, who have innumerable blessings for which to be thankful, raise our hands to that same power in sincere gratitude. Casper is proud of the part it plays in the observance of this national holiday. ( THANKSGIVING DAY Enjoy a Real Old Fashioned THANKSGIVING DINNER THE TOWNSEND MENU 12 NOON TO 9 P. M.
