Nov, 11,—Joe Brindisi, convicted In the Denver district court of the murder of Mrs. Lillian McGlone on August 27, 1923 must start serving his term, In a decision handed down Monday the Colorado supreme court af- firmed the judgment of the district court. Brindisi's attorneys claimed that there were numerous errors in H. the trial of the case in district court where Judge Clarence J. Morley presided. The opinion of the su- preme court was written by Justice P. Burke, The Brindisi case was one of the Most sensational that ever occurred in Denver. In addition to the mur- der of Mrs. McGlone of which he ‘was convicted, Brindisi was accused of murdering Miss Emmg Vaacovie. The hodies of both women were found in the same room after a visit of Brindis!. He fled to Mexico and later was arrested in Detroit, The constitutionality of the state gasoline tax was again upheld by the supreme court this morning when it refused to grant a rehear- ing in a case brought by Frank Mil- ler in the district court of Larimer county to test the law. —>—_—_. For while technically speaking, the executive and legislative are two separate branches of the govern- ment, they get along most effective- ly when the leader of the party in the White House speaks his mind before his colleagues in the senate and house commit themselves to a course of action. There is little doubt that if Mr. Coolidge had sent a message threatening to veto the soldier bill that it might have had harder sledding than it had when the me!
