By ROBERT A. BRADSHAW. (Copyright, 1924, Casper Tribune.) WASH Nov, 3,— The wrong in the old time theory that “man's place is in the world and women’s in the home,” is being more strikingly proved today than ever before. For three women of the country are accompanying thelr husbands on the path to fame and perhaps victory, that they could not find alone—in the presidential fight. Mrs. Calvin Coolldge, Mrs. Robert M. LaFollette and Mrs. John W. Davis have been largely responsible for the progress of their husbands’ campaigns for the first office of the land—and one of them will deserve a Jarge measure of credit for her spouse's four-year 80, journ in the White House. Perhaps ons of the most potent bits of Republican propaganda are the “White, House breakfasts” at which Mrs. Coolidge presides. Silent Cal shows up to better advantage with his vivacious and high-spirited wife at his side than at any other time, it has been sald. | When Mrs. Coolidge worked out the scheme of making the south portice of the White House into a mecca for sundry groups from every part of the U. 8. A., she achieved a masterful stroke. And her second great “coup” of the campaign, ob- servers say, is her political astute- ness which prevents her “meddling in mere politics.” Her guiding hand at the ship of state is said to be more skilled becatse she does not tinker with the so-called “engine works”, On quite another tack does Mrw LaFoliite court the favoring po- litical winds. For 80 years she has Lépt step with her husband, explain- ing to the public from which she hopes for support exactly what ere his aims, She cuts into the argu- mentative side of big economic and al questions and lets the chips re they may, with brave and bold abandon. Mrs. Davis, on the other hand, is suave, gracious and engaging. After the manner of the Englishwoman’s handling of things politicel, she dis cussed the issues with rare intelli gence and an equal casuajness. | Wit rsonian democracy for | xhe’s” campaigning for ratic husband-standard bearer with all her quiet might All Washington sits up and taker notice cf the threg | We Are Proud of the Fact % 4 © All Wyoming and Especially Casper.
