PAGE FOUR. “GHANGING HUSBANDS” HUMOROUS PHOTOPLAY It is quite evident that there was no serious intent behind the pro- duction of “Changing Husbands,” the new Paramount picture that c dat the Riako theater yester- da t was made entirel: in the comedy vein for laughing purposes only. And yet we have a feeling that every girl who is married and every girl who wants to be married is going to get excited over this photoplay because it drals with a fundamental feminine problem, the question of getting the most out of lfo, whett ife or In pursuit wa vy Sada Cowan and How- gins from the turday ning Post ry, “Roles,” by Elizabeth Changing Alexander, Husbands” unfolds the tale of a rich young wife, eager for a enreer *! secretly changes places With mu ar tress who resembles her. Leatrice Joy, who enacts the dual role of the rich wife and her double, the actress, rises to heights never before reached in any of her former screenplays. All of tho delightful personality of this talented artist is brought to the fore, and it is diffi- cult to choose between her portray- al of the society matron and her characterization of the actrass. Vic- tor Vercon!, Raymond Griffith, Za- Su Pitts, Julia Faye, Helen Dunbar and William Boyd make up the ex- cellent supporting cast. Frank Ur- son and Paul Iribe, as associate dl- rectors, produced the picture, and Cecil B. DeMille personally. super- vised it. Make it your business to see “Changing Husbands” if you are in need of a laugh tonic. —-- WONDER DOG COMING T0 AMERICA IN. But at location at Klamath Falls, Oregon, where teh exteriors for this production weer made, Rin-Tin-Tin engaged in ‘‘fistic encounted with an age-old enemy. It was a porcupine —not at all carried away -with the fact that the dog was a high-salaried motion picture star. ‘The members of the company were having lunch and Rin-Tin-Tin, him- self having finished before the oth- er, broke his rope and strolled away into t8h woods for a short walk, be- fore resuming his work, Presently a great commotion was heard and Rin-Tin-Tin bounded out of teh bushes, his face and chest bristling with quills that friends por- cupine had preesnted him in a none too friendly menner. When in training, the dog is not permitted to #&ee anybody except his trainer, who must teach him ab- solute obedience. The dog must learn to distinguish between commands and respond immediately. If the trainer wishes to teach the dog to pick up a ball and bring it to him, he will give the command, “Bring the ball,” then lead the dog over to the ball, open his jaws and close them over the ball. He will then walk away and ca'l the dog. He wil! have to repeat this action several times each day, using the same com- Eventually, when the dog hears “Bring the ball,” he will get the ball and bring it to his trainer immediately. In this way, by teaching a dog ta understand commands, he can be taught to do most anything. A well trained police deg can jump .tremen- dous heights. He can hunt vaga- bonds, guard an object, keep individ- uals at bay without biting them un- til human help comes, and attack if necessary, He is taught not to be afraid of firearms. A very important part of the train- ing ts to establish an understanding betwet the dog and his trainer, When ,this is actomplished the rest’ is easy. Tho, dog will reflect the mood of his master. That is how the dog can dieplay such emotion in his acting. His master or trainer tries to feel the emotions he wants the dog to express, and the dog, watch- ing him will fall into the same mood. That is the biggest secret of the success of a dcg actor. Rin-Tin-Tin, the well known, Bel- gian police dog which was brought over here from the firing line) in France, is an example of perfect training and unusual intelligence. His latest picture, “Find Your Man" will be the feature at the America theater starting tomorrow.
