That is what we have in “Man- handled” which opened yesterday at the Rialto theater, There is a side of the many-sided Swan- son, a new talent that has never be- fore appeared in such fullness. Gloria has been saucy, has been humorous {f you please, but in “ManhandleA” she plays the clown shop girl who by chance is thrown in with a set entirely dift- ferent from that in which she has been used to travel finds many em- barrassing situations. These do not become so very serious with the girl in “Manhandled’* who takes them as a joke and pretends to be enjoying them. Then her lover, played by Tom Moore, tells her that sho cannot foo] with fire. She con- tinues to run with the same crowd and comes very close to getting her wings singed It {s a rather tragic picture, this girl who desires to enjoy herself in a wholesome ¥ but who is con tantly being misjudged and mis. interpreted, but there is a great eal of fun in {t all. They are known for their splendid performances -in other Warner Brothers Screen Classics, such as “The Marriage Circle’ and “How to Educate a Wife.” Loulse Fazenda, remembered for her romic sparkle in—The Gold Diggers,” and Irene Rich have also important parts. Then there is Theodore Von Eltz, Frank Currier, Eulalie Jensen, Lila Lesile, Charles French and Sidney Bracey. “TRAVELING SALESMAN” NEW SHOW AT COLUMBIA The latest thing in comedy at the Columbia theater is “The Traveling Salesman” which is being produced by Vogel and Miller's Happy ‘Go Lucky company and is opening to- night for a three day run. Mae Mur- s big picture production ‘The nch Doll" is on the same pro- gram. The Columbia thus offers a very high class show in both pic- tures and tabloid. Shows will start at 7 and 9 o'clock. In “The ‘Traveling Salesman” there are so many things that one can hardly afford to miss the show. The story deals with a very wise tra- vellng salesman who meets a couple on a tarin going to the mountains for a vacation. ‘The husband steps off the train and is left behind. The traveling salesman flirts with the wife and escorts her to thé summer resort.
