Johnson‘: Lake. one of Natrona county’s larg- est bodies of water and located only _aon approximate ten miles from the center of the city. 7 It is a fairly safe wager that this lake, in the morning and evening hours will always contain a plentiful sprinkling of our feathered friends, and while the hunter is somewhat hahdicapped by the size of the lake still a number of flocks circle the shore almost constantly and afford ample opportunity to blaze away. To reach Johnson's Lake, the hunter needs only to drive’ west on the Yeliowstone highway for five iniles until the 33-mile road turn off is reached. ‘Another fixe miles. on this road places the car alongside the lake and ample parking space has been provided by Nature. Mr. Johnson, from whorh the lake takes its name, and upon whose land it is located has fitted the shores with a number of blinds, and maintains a boat for the ‘conveni- ence of hunters who have dropped &ame into the water. In order to pay for the equipment supplied and further hunting upon his lake, he makes a small charge for the privi- lege of “knocking ‘em down.’" The Platte river some 20 miles or less from Casper has proven to be nu duck gold mine this year and has attracted more hunters than ever before. The Alcova road follows the latte fairly closely for many miles und the hunt car may be halted at whatever point looks promising to its . occupants. Improvement work done en the Alcova road re- rently has ironed out some of the rough spots and reduces the terror which accompanied the thought of that road: heretofore. Rasmus Lee lake is also a safe bet for ducks at this time of the year. It is located some 15 miles out on the Poison’ Spider road which Is not in-the best of shape but affords no impassable spots and inore than rewards the hunter for his troubie by a fine bag of game on almost every decasion. It was upon this lake that Ray Lathrop, young Casper resident, lost his life a few days ago following the accl- dental discharge of a shotgun.» »)| In the hills across the Platte river fron Parkerton,; are “numberless small bodies of water which are veritatle ren¢ezvous for the feath- ered ‘tribe. The normaktempcrature of a hu- man body is 98 degrees while an automobile motor operates best at about 180 degrees. A radiator cover is a good investment and should be used by every automiobile owner, for it not only enables you to co siderably improve the performance of the motor, but will also enable you to get a bigger mileage from your gasoline. A cover also helps to keep your feet warm by prevent- ing the*cold air that is drawn in through’ the radiator striking the toe boards. Inspect the radiator\ and the hose connections ure that the cooling system i te In winter you will probably use an anti freeze solution and if there are leaks in any part of the cooling system your anti-fteeze will require constant renewal. If the radiator is leaking, have it permanentiy repaired by a radiato specialists. If the hose connections have not been renewed for twelve fuonths or more, they should be renewed before you put in the anti freeze., In any case it is a good idea to open the drain plug at the botton: of the radiator and let all the water run out, then insert a hose with @ good pressure of water behind it ‘and flush out the radiator until the water comes out of drain plug quite clearly. The next thing to consider is the kind of anti-freeze you are going to use. There are many very good patent anti-freezing solutions but you want to be sure they are free from injurious acids before you u: them. Beware of any anti-freeze that contains an unneutralized solff- tion of calcium chloride for. although this makes a fine anti-freezing solution and is’harmless to rubber or steel, it is very harmful to brass, copper or solder. Denatured alcohol is one of the best and most re- liable anti-freezing solutions of them all, Do, not wait until the first freez- ing weather arrives before thinking about your supply of anti-freeze.
