“THE MAN WHO FIGHTS ALONE” GIPPIG FL “The Man Who ‘Fights Alone” at the Rialto is unusual in theme and gripping in story. What is more it marks the screen come-b of Wil- Mam Farnum, this time under the Paramount banner. On top 6f that it has a superb supportin cast head- Horton, both featured. Wallace Worsley directed the production. Farnum has the role of a two- fisted engineer who wins the love of a beautiful girl who had also been courted by his best friends. Il alth makes it necessary for him to form a partnership with his friend who is an hororable man in every respect. As day after day he sees his wife and his friends talking, laughing, enjoying each other's com- pany, suspicion and bitterness creep into his heart until there comes a time when *his mind is so warped that he resélves upon a desperate cotrse of action. How his ttle daughter saves him from the conse quences of his own folly and how he is made to see his jealousy to be without foundation, form a mighty climax that will send the red blood tingling and coursing thru your veins. > NEW YORK PICTURED AS IT 1S IN “TARNISH:” ~ THEAMERIGA THEATER A majority of all motion pictures produced present some phase of New York life, but according to Ronald Colman, who plays the lead- ing masculine role in “Tarnish, which is now playing at the Ameri- ca, not one of ten mirrors truly life he metropolis. ae one had never visited New York,” states Colman, “but relied solely upon the motion picture for his or her impression, it might be believed that there were nothing in, sions of the rich. Or that all down- town offices were as spacious as palaces and had twenty-foot ceilings. “ “Tarnish,’ however, is one of the few pictures I have acted in ‘which shows New York as it really is. Perhaps it is because both Mr. Goldwyn, the producer, and Direc- tor George Fitzmaurice are thor- oughly familiar with the metropo- lis. ‘“Tarnish’ deals with a typical New York family and it very accu- rately pictures the 1fe of the weal- thy, the middle classes, and the ‘very poor. ‘The’ cabaret it shows is not an over-gaudy, bizarre affair such as no New Yorker ever saw. It is, of course lively, gay, exotic, and ‘to anyone who has _ visited Broadway's white lights it will re- : call memories of the most famous ight cafes. “The whole story seems to catch the spirit of Mdnhattan—just as surely and as accurately as 0. Henry caught it in his famous short stories.” IFTEEN FREIGHT CARS FOR FILMING PICTURE Fifteen freight cars, two locomo- tives and other railroad equipment were used in the Clarence L.
