Che Casper Daily Cribune MODEL VILLACE TO BE ERECTED FOR | Church Mission Leader on Wind River Reservations Proceeding With Plan To Be Launched This Fall A model village that would furnish opportunity for edu- zating the members of the Arapahoe tribe of Indians along the lines of the white man’s civilization is the dream of the Rev. R. H. Balcom, head of St. Michael’s mission at Etheta, Wyo. The mission is under Episcopal church. The Rev. Balcom is working this fall on the plans he has outlined for such a village and if he can in- terest sufficiently the higher offi- cials of the church there is no doubt that such a model village will be started in a comparatively short time. St. Michael's mission lke other missions offers the young people of the tribe a chance for education and training in the right direction so that they may be better able to con- tend with the problems about them and it is one of the most efficient centers of this kind, but the dream of the head of St. Michael's extends farther than. this. He would edu- } cate the older men and women as their children. In doing them parents of young Indians who went away to school and college stamped with their disapproval such learning and the result was that the younger generation reverted to type. The village which the Rev, Bal com concelves would be a self gov- erning communiy capable of carry- ing on business and industry just as TWO VERSIONS OF KILLING IN POLICE HANDS Blame Is Handed Back And Forth in Hunn Case, Pasadena.
