__ WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4, 1924. WALSH TO PRESIDE) OVER DEMOCRATS in New York. Some Democratic leaders of Senator Walsh's selection had virtually been settled. The Mon- tana senator, however, declined to comment on the reports. Senator Walsh has been for sev- eral days in the forefront of those mentioned for the place. Demo- cratic party chieftains met ‘here yesterday to consider minor conven- tion assignments and at that time it was sald the question of the per- manent chairmanship had not beer brought up. Later, however, George nan, national committeeman r Illinois, issued a statement urg- ing the selection of the Montana senator. The selection of Senator Walsh, Brennan said, seemed inevitable in view of his “distinguished record in the oll inquiry in disclosing to the Secure Vote COLUMBUS, O., June Klan Party Run Candidate Presidential Nominee Chosen by New “American Party,” Organized to bee selection of Montana Senator Is Held Probable for Permanent Chairman _Of New York Convention © “WASHINGTON, June 4.—Strong Sdinations + were ap- rent in Democratic circlgys here today that Senator homas J. Some weeks ago his own name was brought forward for the nomination by some Montana Demo- crats, but he declined to give the movement his approval. Mr. Bren- nan, however, is leader of the el ment in Illinois which opposed an instructed delegation for McAdoo. Bome of the McAdoo men have urged the selection of J.
