Many of us gaze in profound admiration at the portrait of one killed in action when this country be- came a Nation divided against itself. Many of us place wreaths each year upon the resting place of one who gave his life in the conflict of 1898. To those of us to whom the real horror of war and the sacrifice it entails, has come home, is the true meaning of Memorial Day all too plain, *. MEMORIAL DAY Tomorrow we shall stand with bare heads—in memoriam. A procession will pass. Its pace will be checked, its drums muffled, its whole bearing shall be one of dignity and solemnity.
