; : ; ] PAGE EIGHT CONTRACT ta HELD UP HER (Continued from Page One.) authorized a new ordinance In Ite place. The previous ordinance had omitted certain parts of streets Which xhould co into the district. The district will be readvertised and remonstrances heard June 9. The district will include Ash from CY to Fourteenth, Elm from CY to Fif- teenth, David from Fourteenth to Thirteenth, Tenth from alley _be- tween David and Ash to Ash, Elev- enth from alley between David and Ash to Elm, Twelfth from alley be- ween David and. Ash to alley be- tween Elm and Oak, Thirteenth from Center to alley between Elm and Oak, and Fourteenth from al- ley between David and Ash to Oak. The Bogan Plumbing and Heat- ing company was awarded the con- tract for installing plumbing fix- tures at the tourist camp. The Bo- gan bid was for $1,257. Other bids were Kane, $1,300, and Schank, $1,320. Citizens presented a petition to have Seventh street closed between Jackson and McKinley. The mat- ter was referred to a committee. Howard Baker presented a re- quest by the Casper Real Estate board that at least one corner at Ninth streets and one at the inter- section of East C and McKinley streets be rounded to provide for the better passage of traffic. Mr. Baker pointed out that several ac- cidents have resulted from crowded traffic conditions existing at these points. Plans for paving district No. 39 which les‘in West Casper and in- cludes Boyer street were submitted by the city engineer, They will be held up until the council can de- cide on the best and cheapest method of providing drainage for this section of Casper. The present sanitary sewer is overcrowded and another sewer must be installed al- though if this were to function pro: perly during high water it would have to.extend for more than a mile down the river since the level of the river farther up would be high er than the pavement. The con- struction would cost $40,000 and the council hopes to find some more economical means. The park committee recommend. ed a fl » of 50 cents per day to be ¢ tourists who occupy the tow No tourist will be allowed to r n more than 14 days. The recommendation was adopted by the council. Tt was pointed out at this junc- ture that there are many persons who camp outside the tourist camp and in other outlying parts of the city or near the city Imits ‘The council has power within a ra- dius of five miles of the city limks when the city’s health is menace and some action will be taken to prevent such promiscuous camping. Dr. Dafoe, city food and milk in- spector, was given police authority to enforce the ordinance requiring all garbage wagons to be covered. Mayor Loy told the council that the county commissioners were will- ing to pay half the salary of Mrs. Virgil Nesbitt who does work as a probation officer for both city and county, if the cky would pay the other half. At the present time Mrs. Nesbitt we without a salary. The barn On West Second street belonging to M. N. “Shorty" Castle may be razed to the ground if a recommendation made last night is carried out, It 1s considered a fire hazard. Mayor Loy brought up the pro- position of annulling insurance poll- cles now carried for city employes, Texans Endorse Candidate for Vice President DALLAS, Tex., May 27.—Endorser ment of R. B.
