PAGE FOUR. TRIES NEW METHOD IN PHOTOPLAY FIGHT In Goldwyn’s screen version of Joseph Hergesheimer'’s “Wild Or- anges,” now playing at the Rialto theater. Vidor staged a real fight be- tween\Frank Mayo and Charles A. Post The scene was not taken in the usual manner. ‘The men did not struggle before tic cameras for a few moments and then stop until the cameras could be lined up at a new angle and another short strug: gle photographed. Vidor placed two cameéras in stich @ position that they could photo- graph the whole fight.. While one camerman was reloading his maga- zine the other was grinding on the scene. Cameras were secreted .in every nook and corner of the set, one behind th door, another just outside a window and another over head. . The set was designed in such a manner that it could be lighted to necommodate each photographer, The weird and unusual effects which Vidor is using throughout the pic- ture permitted a few liberties in’ the method of lighting, In this manner Vidor’ obtained close-ups and long shots of the fighting at the same time, thus permitting the actors to Start and finish the fight in one ne. At th beginning of the scene Vidor told Mayo and Post they were not to stop fighting until ordered to do 60. The action started. Mayo crashed a window with a chair as he missed a vicious swing for Post's head, they grappled... Post pulled a knife and lunged... the two fell to the floor. They were on their feet again.
