Never before has the Wyoming had a picture which has appealed to so many people and classes of people Packed houses have been the rule and are expected at the final showing this evening which will be made at 8 o'clock. The appeal which the “Hunchback” has made in Casper is but a con- tinuation of the appeal which it has made all over the country. It will be an exceedingly great role when Lon Chaney surpasses his work as the misshapen Hunch- back. It will also be a great part for Patsy Ruth Miller when she surpasses her work as the leading lady in this film, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” is notable for so many things that it would be difficult to state which are more important. For stellar actors, for historical accuracy, for bigness, and for Chaney it is of outstanding merit. —_—>___. On the same day “Diamond Jos" Sullivan, a notorious killer, was of- ficlully put to death at Little Rock, Ark., for the slaying of policeman Schmeltz. Bringhurst and Thompson who were hanged here Monday were also to have been Good Friday vic- tims of the hangman's noose, but because of protests from clergymen of many denoninations against the desecration of that day by legalize? killings, they were given a three Gay reprieve. The two policemen killers who are yet to meet thelr doom before the end of April, are Isaac Wolfgang, who also shot a Los Angeles peace officer and who will be hanged next Friday, and Frank Yeager, who killed @ San Joaquin valley sheriff and who is scheduled’ to hang the following week, The outstanding element in all four of the executions already car- ried out here this month was the omplete loss of nerve by the sup- pesedly “hard boiled"? desperadoes when they faced tho certainty of death. In every instance it has been only through encouragi words of spiritual advisers that they have managed to stand without sup- port while the fatal trap was sprung. And in every instance guards had virtually to carry the so-called desperadoes from the death cell to the waiting noose, That the police have developed vindictiveness in avenging the death of brother officers who fall before bandits’ guns was attested by the presence Monday at the hanging of Bringhurst and Thompson, of nine Los Angeles policemen. The two men hanged shot down Patrolman William Brett and Harry Clester, two of the most popular, members of the Los Angeles department, more than a year ogo, In order to see the law exact its vengeance, the nine Los Angeles policemen paid their own expenses to the scene of the banging. But on the faces of all nine appeared fleeting expres- sions of compassion or mercy as the police killers were hurled into eternity. An even more complete loss of nerve than yet has been evidenced by any of the four already hanged is expected to develop Friday when Isaac Wolfgang, also a Los Angeles police killer, goes to his death.
