PAGE EIGHT. Che Casper Daily Cribune TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 1924. RESERVOIR DUE (Continued From Page One) they “had heard” these things were 80. The police committee of the coun- cil reported that Mr. Galles had al- | ways seemed willing to comply with ) any suggestions and that Bert Yehe, chief of police, had stated that the North Washington hall was exceptionally well managed. Mayor 8, K. Loy said that he had received several complaints re would looking into and the investigation should not be con- fined to that hall in particular but to all dance halls in the city. J. M. Lowndes, head of the police com- mittee, suggested that regulation wag much better than abatement in any such instance and that to per- mit dance halls to run under police regulation within the city would tend to prevent the opening of estab- WOMEN OF MIDDLE AGE Read How Mrs.Walsh Was Helped by Taking Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable ( Compound Mannington, W. Virginia.—‘‘I took the Vegetable Compound whenhaving the turn oflife. I had been sick for seven years. I would get a little better, then I brokedown again. It would be hard for me to describe how! was, forl was a perfect wreck. I suffered with a pain in my left side, then I would have numb spells, and L would think I couldn’t live. f would have hot flashes, then would come weak spells. I was so weak I would think I couldn't ever get a meal ready. My work was a burden to me. i was not able to do my housework half of the time. A friend advised me to take Lydia E. Pink- ham’s Vegetable Compound, and it has given me strength and health. The hot flashes left me and I got bet- ter of the numb spells. That summer I coulddo my housework and worked in the garden a good bit. I tell all sick women" what your wonderful medicine did for me, and wi!l always recommend it, I am known to all my neighbors, and you can publish this statement because it is true.’’— Mrs. Joun W. Three different motions as to the proper method to investigate the problem groped blindly for seconds and finally by common consent it was left up to the police committee. Three paving contracts, all for small districts, were let at the meet- ing. The Warren Construction com- pany received two of these and the Lloyd Building company the third. The Warren company got the con- tract for Districts 41 and 42, the pavement to be laid consisting of four-inch bituminous concrete base with two-inch bitulithie top at $2.82 per square yard. ‘These districts le between Second street and the Northwestern tracks just east of the Second street crossing. The contract for District 38 was let to Lloyd at $2.23 for plain concrete six inches thick. This is in the southwest part of the city including portions of Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh where they cross Walnut, Spruce and Oak. The council yoted to put water in Block 18 which 1s bounded by Ninth, Tenth, Chestnut and Walnut streets. On the recommendation of the fire committeo the council voted to purchase six steamer type fire plugs for use In the downtown section. These plugs permit the passage of a greater volume of water than the present hydrants. April 28 was set as the date to hear remonstrances on Paying Dis- trict 45. Letters addressed were read which were to the school board of District No. 2, and to the board of county commissioners. Each of these organizations will be asked to contribute $1,000 or one third of the initial price of a detention home for delinquent girls here. The city will also pay a third. The Mokler building which rests at Durbin street between Second and Midwest was purchased yesterday from Les: lie A. Miller for the price of $3,100. It will be moved out to Bucknum park. Resolutions addressed to the county commissioners and asking for roads west and east of Casper were adopted gst night. The council "approved specifica- tions for Sanitary Sewer Districts 17 and 18 and will tssue’a call for bids. am Neff, assistant city engineer, presented plans for improvements to be made at the tourist camp accord- g to recommendations of the Cas- Motor club. No action was taken since it was discovered that the proposed improvements would st in the neighborhood of $4,000 | and the council did not feel that the city would care to spend that much money on It een JEFFEROONIAN CLUB MEETING (Continued From Page One) by Mayor 8. K. Loy, who also paid tribute to the ideals of Jeffersonian democracy. Growth of the Jeffersonian club in Natrona county was reviewed by Byron S. Hulo in one of several short addresses of the evening in rhich he showed that it now has r 1,600 persons on {ts member- ship rolls as compared with 61 at the time of its organization. Atten- tion was called by the speaker to the county Democratic convention to be held May 6 and the state con- vention to be held here on May 12. Natrona county will be entitled to 24 delegates at the state meeting, and selections will be made at the county convention. Judge Robt. R. Rose was compll. mented for his co-operation in law enforcement by County Attorney E H. Foster, who pointed out that fines assessed since March 17 tn district court amounted to more than the salary of the prosecutor for four years, Memberships in the Jane Jeffer- son club was urged upon the women of the county by Mrs. Burke H.
