According to this publica- tion, on May 9, 1895, “noses were counted in Thermopolis and there were twenty-seven.” | Newspaper men of today realize the courage required to attempt the publica- tion of a newspaper in a town with @ population of 27, including men, women and children. That was 29 years ago and Ther. mopolis was located at the junction of Big Horn river and Owl Creek, seven miles north. About 25 years ago the town was moved to the site of the springs. Altho the hot water springs were’ seven miles away in those early days their value was appreciated. The editor pf the Big Horn River Pilot waxed elo- quent over the possibilities of the future of the town on account of the springs.
