Both Mr. and Mrs. Van Gordon Were born at or near Greenfield, Ja. Mrs. Van Gordon was at that time Miss Pearl D, Dorsey. Wah Gorden was the son of farmers near the Iowa town. When the couple were married they moved to York, Neb., where their son Arthur Lloyd was born 10 years ago. They lived tn Douglas about a year, Mr. Van Gorden brought his family to Casper in 1915 and entered the em- ployment of the Golden Rule store. He afterwards went to work for the Webel Commercial company and be- came head of the ladies’ dry goods department. When the Webel company sold out their interests Mr. Van Gorden went into business for himself, establishing the Fred Van Gorden investment company in May, 1921. This was at that time located in the basement of the Tribune building. When {tt was moved to the present offices.in the Rialto theater building the name was changed to the Fred Van Gor- den agency. The business handled included real estate transactions, bond selling, and insurance. Mr. Van Gorden was about 42 years of age at the time of his death while his wife was a few years younger, The boy Arthur Lioyd was 10 years of age his last birth- day which was in October.
