It de developed that she was in love with Whalen. When her parents remained obdurate they fled to Mexico, Last Monda: y were legally married at T na, Ju Tye appealed to the several tongs to which he belonged to recover her and punish her abductor. All probably would have gone well with Whalen and his stolen bride, and the hunt of the tongs proven fruitless, had the couple been con- tent to remain {in Mexico.
