McAdoo, when shown E. L. Doheny's teatimony of his connection with the Doheny com: panies before the senate investigat- ing committee. McAdoo declared that he “never at any time has been employed or consulted regarding any oll leases anywhere in the United States.” His services to the Doheny interests, he said, were rendered entire'y in connection with Mexican matters. He said the annual retainer’ from the Doheny interests to “my former firm ard myself has extended over a period of four years, and that it was $25,000 a year. worth of Ohjo, Republican leader, was ready to ask unanimous con- sent to limit debate on the Walsh resolution and bring about a vote before adjournment for the day. Mr. Longworth said he favored modifica- tion of some of the phrases in the measures which declares the leases were made without authority and contrary to law, but it was generally regarded as unlikely that efforts to amend it would be effective in view of the unanimous action of the senate. Mr. Doheny, who holds the lease on the California reserve and a cog- struction of the Pearl Harbor reservoirs—both of which are men- tioned as objects for legal action in the Walsh resolution—was called before the senate committes on a subpoene issued yesterday after Senator Reed, Democrat, Missouri, had demanded that he be asked whether he had ever advanced money directly or indirectly to any official besides Fall during or short- ly after his tenure of office. The committee's physicians . examined Fall yesterday at the apartment where he has been confined since his arrival from New Orleans in an effort to determine whether he will be able soon to appear for examina- tion or whether it would be advis- able to question him, ag suggested by his counsel, in his room. WASHINGTON, Feb, 1.—Albert B, Fall, former secretary of the in- terlor, is in condition to appear for examination in the senate ofl in- quiry, the investigating committee was told today by the special medi- cal commission appointed to ex- amine him, Chairman Lenroct announced that on the basis of the report a new subpoena would be issued for Mr Fall requiring his presence before the committee at ten o'clock a. m. tomorrow. The committee of physicians which was appointed after Mr. Fall's doctors had reported him un- able to go before the committee, sub- mitted a written statement which sald that the former secretary was under a nervous strain but that his general appearance was fairly good.
