THEYRE OFF NEW COMEDY AT THE COLUMB “Just Like a Woman” Completes Sun- day Bill. The musical comedy “They're Off” ne photoplay “Just Like a Wo- up the bill at the Colum- pater today oft” 3 the title suggests dy of the race track. It is an exceptionally good cmedy too, according to reports, and is under the personal direction of Dick Hy- land whose Revues will produce it. Mr. Hyland plays his characterts- tic role Abie Leschinsky, while others in the cast sre Shirley Mc- Donald, Roy Alexander, Gordon Ric n, Bob Evans, Mildred Teddy Magnus, and Patricia the special numbers to be “Kismet” which will Re lexander, and 3 livar artha,” and “Louisville Lou. There have been many appear- of leading film stars in dual also many histrionic exposi- tions of the dpal personality roles. Both of admit a great demand on an ar ‘s versatility. However, there is another angle that is also something difficult to present suc- cessfully, and that is the artist who pl a real character and a mas: querade characte, making the change before the eyes of the aud- fence. In “Just Like a Woman,” at the Columbia thea’ Marguerite De La Mo! has been called upon to do jus athing. In this film drama Miss La Motte plays the role of Peggy Dean, who plans to teach her aunts a lesson after “hearing of a slur cast upon the name of her dead mother who was an actress. Pegey dresses as a missionary, goes to the Aunts’ home to live, and forces them to give up most of the innocent pleasures which the Aunts have enjoyed ‘The appearance of the missionary is greatly different to that of Peggy Dean. The expression likewise is entirely different. In order to im- press the audience, and at the same time add a touch of reality to her part, requires a lot of tact and ability. Miss La Motte succeeds in doing this with perfect ease and it is readily understandable how an audience can believe her ability to fool the other members of the cast by this deception. Other members of the cast are George Fawcett, Ralph Graves, J. Frank Glendon, Jane Keckley and Julia Calhoun. ORIGINAL GAST WILL BE SEEN IN PLAY HERE “Why Wives Go Wrong’ Attraction at Colum- bia Thursday. It is seldom that Casper is given an opportunity to view the original cast in any stage play, but this pri- vilege is extended to local theater pa~ trons next Thursday when “Why Wives Go Wrong” is seen at the Columbia theater. As a rule the producers keep the original cast on view in the big cities but Manager Todd of the Columbia has persuad- ed the producers of this play to give Casper the same opportunity that is given to New York, Chicago, and other large centers. Thus when “Why Wives Go Wrong." which holds a most sur- prising solution of a most interest- ing problem, is seen here, theater goers will find the same notable list layers, including Annsmae Houston, Edward Wynn, Virginia Augustus Neville, George D. old Monroe, and Harrison who participated in the Stuar ‘ays considered hemselves entitled to the best, and Manager Todd promises the best in th sentation here of “Why © Wrong.” Gladys Walton Has Two Roles In Latest Film Walton, the pretty little 1 star who has appeared to advantage in so many flap- essays the most difficult of her screen career in ‘The t comes to the and Hand R r plays of r character, Miss Walton has gained a wides- pread popularity.
