Gerry, well known Casper real estate operator and former officer in the Royal North- west mounted police, the New York City police force and the Texas Rangers, was arrested this morning at Portland, Ore., charged with de- frauding Mrs. Lettie Walburn of this city out of $500. The alleged fraud related to the-transfer of a lot at Snyder or New Salt Creak. The complaining witness asserts that Gerry sold her the lot, took the money and never gave her a title to the property. She also states that the land, which was sold for the Public Service corporation, be- longed to that organization and that Gerry had no title to it. Gerry was arrested at the instiga- tion of Prosecuting Attorney Foster by the sheriff at Portland and a “message received from there this afternoon said that Gerry would fight extradition. Extradition papers are being pre- pared to be sent to Governor Ross at Cheyenne for his approval. If the papers are honored Gerry will ba brought back to Casper to face the charge, according to Mr, Foster. fia Ue Sa das seal nized last Kangaroo Court Is Abolished At The Casper Jail The image-breakers celebrated yesterday when that long estab- ished ‘institution, the Kangaroo court was done away with at the city jail. ‘Those who had paid their toll to the court in the past ‘were probably in a humor to cele- brate also, while the leeches that profited from this method of ob- taining treats from their compan- ions in the “bull pen” writhed in agony. The crisis occurred when a pris- oner who was also a newcomer was jumped on by four fellow pris- oners who had learned that he had $10 at the sergeant’s desk.
