PAIR ARE FINED "John Champion Struck Over Head, Not Shot, Evidence Shows. & broom with a broken handle ‘was brought in as evidence in police court last night for the purpase of proving that the wound which had/ been inflicted in the head of John Champion Saturday night at the rooming house of Mrs. V. D, Doolas had not been made by a bullet. Ap parently the proof was substantial since Judge John A. Murray con eluded the case by finthg Champlon and his companion, F. A. Vassar, $50 each on the charge of disturbance while he released Mrs, Doolas who had been arrested for having fired the shot. Champion and Vassar admitted that they had been pretty drunk and didn’t remember very much of what had occurred. “You don't remember then whether you put your arms around Mrs Doolas and that she tried to push you away?” asked Attorney Bul- lack. “I was pretty drunk,” replied Champion, “but I don’t think I did that.” Chris Angelos, evidence introduced, inflicted gash with the broom stick when h ‘Was called on to be the protector of $ THE 4000 PUPILS. Y.W.C. A. INSTITUTE | TO HOLD INTEREST Are Casper women thinking only in a provincial way or are they in- cluding in the scope of their serious thoughts the predicament of politics {and problems of international im- portance? For three days beginning next Monday the ¥. W. C. A. will hold an educational institute which will, it is hoped, serve to broaden the thinking range of women {n this city. The tentative program includes three speakers of national promi- nenece in the organization and women generally. Most noted of these three is Miss Katherine Gerwick, national secre. tary of the educational division of the Y. W. C. A. With her will be Mrs. EB. T. Boyd, national finance representative and Miss Bertha 1. Millen, national secretary of the town department, both of Denver. Members of the Young Women's Christian association are asked to jafternoons at FOR CASPER WOMEN sions. All women are tnyited to be present at each of the meetings. He will tell you that Cleveland was a village in his youth. He will tell you Pumpkin Center was not on the map, and that a bath- tub was not the bane of any boy’s life who lived west of the Mississippi River. He will tell you that YOUR father should have bought real estate in Kansas City or Pumpkin Center, Nebr., just as he himself should have, bought property in New York or Chicago. He will tell you that had he or YOUR father made such investments there would have been no question as to your education or your standing in the community in which you live. He knows the people who do not'even own a home are the lesser lights. And he knows that those who do own their own home made sacrifices to gain it. He knows that had he made the sacrifices that Astor made YOU would have a great heritage both as to character and wealth. He now knows that those sacrifices which he might have had to make really, after all, would have not amounted to much—he knows he has made greater ones for a lesser purpose. YOUR GRANDFATHER KNOWS that land investments were the foun- dation upon which 95 per cent of our great families were developed both as to wealth and character. Your Grandfather paid a short visit to Casper only a little over a year ago, now he is here again. He marvels that you are not keenly awake and even excited at the great rate of Casper’s development. He says look at that Texas and White Eagle refinery. I never saw them until this trip. There was NOTHING there but sage brush when I visited you A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. He says there are nearly $4,000,- 000 more of building improvements than when he was last here A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. GRANDFATHER SAYS—“John and Mary, why don’t you get in on this’”—-what’s the matter with you—$225,000.00 building permits al- ready issued for the bleak month of November and ten days yet to go. Oh, say now—what are you talking about—didn’t I think Chicago was a goner after the big fire in ’71—-didn’t I think Kansas City was busted a dozen times during THE 80’s AND 90’s—didn’t I think Oklahoma City was buried for good in 1907—Say, John and Mary I tell you this grand old U. S. A. grows and grows and grows and so does its cities and towrs. Now you get in and buy some Casper real estate—you can do it— Ionce went without sugar in my coffee for a lesser purpose— the future dims the sacrifices of today ten-fold. You—John and Mary get in on Casper real estate right now. Another new refinery in the spring. Getin. Read the Grandfather announcement tomorrow. THE DOBBIN REALTY CO. Phone 2316 W. R. DOBBIN 237 S.
