Here again Huber declared it was merely a coincident, though Huber's mother-inlaw and sister-in‘aw had both died under somewhat similar circumstances. Caught at Last. His most recent “circumstances” was used to put him fn prison. Hu ber, in need of ready cash, became acquainted with a rich young couple named Grimm. He visited them going to their suburban home in his automobile. During the night the couple developed cramps—the re. sult of digatalis poisoning. Huber, also apparently Il from the same cause, left immediately for his home. leaving his automobile behind. In vestigators, thoroughly angry, start- ed after Huber in the automobile but Huber had tampered with the machine, which broke down en route. Later, Huber was arrested and tried. The mild sentence—fifteen years in jail and fifteen years’ ‘oss of citizenship for robbing the Grimm pair—was a surprise to followers of the case. The court held that proof of Huber's guilt in cdénnection with the string of deaths connected with his every move was not sufficient to convict.
