IN FILM A tumble into cactus during the painful experience of learning to ride,* battles with border rum run- ners and kidnappers, and turbulent experiences in army etiquette all combine to mix thrills and laughs in “Blinky,” new Universal comedy of army life, starring Hoot Gibson, now playing at the Wyoming thea- ter. Gibson plays a “shavetail lieu- tenant” being “broken in” with a cavalry outfit on the border. The play 1s adapted from Gene Markey’s famous army story. Esther Ralston and a large cast appear with the cowboy comedian in his new role. Edward Sedgwick 1s the director. It takes a great rider to learn to ride a horse and get comedy out of it. Witness Hoot Gibson—everyone knows his prowess on horseback— still he makes one of the funniest scenes ever filmed out of his riding lesson in this film. AMERICA HAS SPLENDID Bill» “SIK DAYS” BY ELINOR GLYN FEATURED With the screen adaptation of Elinor Glyn's “Stx Days,” vivid pic- tures of devastated Japan where the earthquake wrought its greatest havoc, and with scenes of the Cole Creek wreck taken by G. R. Stew: art, while roaring waters still rushed over the ordinarily dry creck bed. the America theater is offering a bill that is hard to beat. Entomb two lovers who have re solved to give each other up. Have them groping and fighting blindly to get to the surface of the earth again. Add a priest, and you have the absorbing theme of the story by the great Glyn. All resolutions mat- ter not at all, all intentions of self sacrifice are forgotten, all previous Pledges of love and marriage must be brushed aside. “Six Days" could be @ great tragedy. It has all the elements, all the little anti-climaxes, all the ebaracters, all the circumstances, ‘The fact that the pair who were en tombed by the explosion of a mine old French dugout finally h the outer world again is as much a whim of the author and the public as anything else. But it adds other problems, especially when th: heroine, played by Corrine Griffith is presented with the question of marrying the man to whom she was engaged previous to the time she fell in love with the young man whose role is taken by Frank Mayo. “Six Days" is an absorbing melo- frama such as only the ultra-modern mind of Elinor Glyn could have con- celved. Its setting 1s properly French to a large extent because of the nature of the story, and the in- tense passion of its lovers. took of the Cole Creek wreck are MVATIS “AI YOM seINQOT eNT, vivid to the extreme.
