STARTS AT THE AMERICA TODAY Clarence Badger,*the noted director, has made a picture that is baffling, ingenious, absorbing—as different from any other mystery play you ever saw as day from night. It sets out with the frank intention of getting you all worked up and it performs this difficult feat by an endless succession of startling, unexpected and amazing incidents, sea- soned with laughs and made all the more interesting by a wonderful love story. No more thrilling sequence of action has been filmed than the scenes in the private car coupled to the Conti- nental Limited. On a steep grade the couplings are loosed ana the car plunges to what seems certain disaster, and then—more thrills. The picture has been staged with unsparing lavishness, rich palatial homes, beautiful gowns, stunning cabaret scenes and beautiful mountain shots in the grand canyon, where the entire company went to take scenes. The cast in “Red Lights” includes Johnnie Walker, Marie Prevost, Alice Lake, Ray Griffith, Dagmar Godowsky and others. “Red Lights’ will be shown at the America Theater today, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. PROTECTORATE QVER FRANCE BY U. §, URGED Moral Effect Would Be Enough to Stabilize Europe, Is Claim. CHEYENNE, Wyo., Oct. 19— Prof. Dean Hunter, of the chair of economics of the University of Wyo- ming, suggests as a solution of the Buropean embroglio that the United States Ceclare what would be, in effect, a protectorate over France by guaranteeing that .Germany shall not harm France. The pivotal point of the Buropean situation, he told the Cheyenne Rotary club Wesines- day is France's fear of Germany. If the United States would announce that should Germany attack France in the future, the resources of the United States would be mobilized for the protection of France, the moral effect af the announcement would be sufficient to bring about restabilization in Europe, Prof Hun- ter stated. He spoke from personal knowledge “6f the Huropean eco- nomic situation, having recently spent several months on the conti nent. Pref.
