The two boxers above mentioned are open to engagements, and desire | to meet all comers in their class. The Geo. W. Vroman pest gives its hearty endorsement to these boys as they are “toe-to-toe” fighters, and deliver the goods from gong to gong. ‘BARNEY GOOGLE~ HE NOT A ASD © IF r Kane = was AsseeinTine witr pits ‘oF The PRISONERS TO LOSE MY COMMISSION © OF WB ALL KNOW You AIA‘T A CROOK BY NATURE «IF You CouLd HAVE PAID FOR THAT MEAL AT THE CASHIN CAFE "YOU WWOULON'T BE HERE Now WHAT AGouT SPARK-PLUG 3 DO You THIdk HELL BE HIM ANCTHGR SecreT! To save their hides they can’t do it!" That's what Tom Ranahan, picturesque pioneer of the West and one time intrepid pony expr rider, thinks of the chances of present day riders to break the record established in 1861, when the Wells-Fargo express men covered the 2,000 miles between St. Joseph, Mo., and Sacramento, California in 7 days and 21 hours. The 1923 revival of the pony ex- press will be in the form of a horse race between cowboy and U. 8. army riders from St. Joseph to San- Francisco, over the route of the old days. It will be run between Aug. 81 and September 10, with each of the five states to be crossed the scene of a separate contest. Riders will start on even terms at the state lines of Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and California, but the time of each relay will be kept and the team finishing the entire course in the shortest time will be the win- ner, Prizes of $7,500 are an addi tional lure to keep each rider on his mettle.
