REMARKABLE CAST SEEN W NEW “SPOILERS” AT THE AMERIGA THEATER “The Spoilers,” Jesse D. Hampton's screen production of Rex Beach's cele- brated novel of the Klondike, which was presented by Goldwyn at the America theater yesterday, is an im- mense picture. When Selig filmed this red-blooded romance of Alaska's Sold rush a decade ago, !t was re- garded as the greatest photoplay of its day. But this 1923 version is as- suredly one of the most spectacular and exciting pictures ever made. A remarkable cast is seen in the pic- ture with Milton Sills as the manly hero; Anna Q. Nilsson as Cherry Ma- lotte, the loyal dance hall queen; Bar. bara Bedford, a pretty brunette as Helen Chester, the innocent heroine: Noah Beery as McNamara, the crooked but courageous politician; Mitchell Lewis as Marshal Voorhees, afraid of no man that walked; Rob- ert Edeson; as the rough-and-ready Joe Dextry, mine owner and ready to face death for his rights; Sam d=- Grasse as the cowardly Judge Still- man; Robert McKim as Struve, the crooked lawyer; Ford Sterling, Rock- cliffe Fellowes, Louise Fazenda, Gor- on Russell, Wallace MacDonald anda numerous other players well known for their ability to act Western routes. It isn’t ‘this superb cast and its skillful acting which make ‘The Spoilers” such thrilling entertain- ment. It's .the story. Rex Beach de- scribed at first-hand the feverish fight for gold in the Klondike when the sands of the Yukon suddenly turned yellow. His account of how the min- ers were despofled of some of their richest properties by corrupt politic- lang is arf historic event. Beach crammed his novel with conflict. rom- ance and suspense and this Director Lambert Hilyer has skillfully portray- ed on the silversheet. The crashing climax in “The Spoil- ers” comes of course, in that epic fight in which Glennister and Mc- Namara settle their scores. Their tussle is one of the very best rough and tumble fights of the screen. 1f you enjoy a red-blooded exciting ftim, with a real story, don’t miss ‘The Spoiler: In addition to the picture program s the child wonder, Helen MacFar- land in singing, fancy dancing and soft shoe dancing. She won the heart of everyone in the audience. 8T. ANTHONY'S CATHOLIC Corner of Seventh and Center streets. The Rey. Father J. H. Mullin, the Rey. Father Moreton, as- sistant pastor.
