Oil Develops in Wildcat As Casing Is Pulled, Said BILLINGS, Mont., April 29—In pulling the casing from the Barns- dallFoster well about 30 miles west of Billings, a flow of oil was encoun- tered in the Enge sands at a depth of 1140 feet, which had been cased off when the bit went through the @ands on its way down for a depth of almost 4000 feet. ‘The oil is flowing at a rate estima ed to be a barrel an hour. The Eagle sand in this field is known to be about 240 feet thick and there {x practically no gaz or water pressure behind the oil, geologists say. J. W. Elles, recognized geologist in Montana, declared today that the showing at the Barnsdall-Foster well indicated that the Lake Basin field will be long lived.
