THURSDAY, APRIL 19, 1923. pe was oe Who will be the winners in the Tribune’s big campaign? Who will ride in the handsome motor carsP These questions are the paramount topic of interest in Casper and vicinity. Only a few more days and the questions will be answered. Scores of predictions have been offered; astrologists, palmists and exponents of the occult science have even been consulted by some in an endeavor to obtain some inkling of what the outcome will be. Yet all these questions avail them not, for the final re- sult is as much as ever in doubt. In frenzied effort to eliminate as much of this doubt as possi- ble, candidates all over the Tribune’s territory are scouring the communities ceaselessly. From the waking hours of morn until the day is done, these ambitious candidates are fighting the bat- tle courageously, never pausing. but keeping busily at it, that the tide of favor will sweep toward them. Such stirring scenes as this, with such eager candidates filled with the spirit of conquest, have never had their equal in this section. The race for supremacy is rushing forward nip and tuck. Many of those who apparently have no chance, if they be judged by their present vote standing, promise to spring such big surprises at the end as will send the too confident ones down to defeat. Over-confidence is the biggest handicap under which a candidate could labor. This unwelcome attribute causes more regret than anything else in a campaign of this sort. $1,385.00 Che Casper-Daily Cribune District No. 1 jy enowins is a list of all votes cast for publication up until last night: Miss Hallie Ellis .. Perseverance is the only winning quality. And see what there is at the top for the plucky ones — seven luxurious motor cars, hundreds of dollars in gold and other valuable cash prizes, each the embodiment of refinement, gen- eral pi and quality. These prizes will make their owners proud. The big schedule of votes in effect this week and the 100,000 extra vote offer makes easily possible a rapid rise in votes. One candidate stated yesterday that she was making a thorough can- vass of every subscriber she had previously secured, and thus far her returns have averaged better than 50 per cent. Determined methods are beinz brought into play to make an exhaustive “‘clean-up” of the territory. Candidates are darting hither and yon, ever in quest of votes. Make these days the most active of any that have gone before, that victory may crown your efforts. The schedule points the way. The time is short — only eight days till the close of the “third period”—yet any candidate can make himself or herself a winner in that time. And when the sun sets on the final day, then you can reflect contentedly that your work was a mighty effort, well put forth.
