SCORES TRIUMPH AT IRIS THEATER WITH BOYD TROUSDALE COMPANY SHOWING TALENTED CAST days of “occupation” were brought before the audience ich filled the Iris theater last night when the Boyd B. Trousdale stock company produced “Buddies,” a music play which ran the gamut of the emotions and left the audience filled with admiration for the troupe that could so skillfully interpret Loth the comic and the dramatic. The entire cast deserves praise for the way in whlch it aid its work. The blending of excellent voices in “The Buddies Quartette,” the tenor ef Trousdale himself, the comic speeches of H. E. Phillips, the villain- ous niceness of Frank Root, the boy- ishness of Jerry Houck, the French feminism of Lelia Fairchild, the in- tensity of the pathos enacted by Nell Norman, and the motherliness of Alice Collisson, as well as the tru American style of getting even b: Dorothy Moran,—these are a few of the elements that go to make “Bud- dies” one of the best plays that has been seen in Casper for some time. “Buddies” was written by Georg? V. Hobart, one of Broadway's most successful playwrights. This particu lar production enjoyed longest run of any~play on Broadway that dealt with a war theme after the signing of the Armistice. Its success may be laid to its eternal freshness, {ts lack of superfluities, and its re markable portrayal of the careful ideals of car American manhood. The production fs in three acts and consumes two hours to produce in- cluding the musical numbers. It re tains the original triad of conventions of the play and is in this way strengthened. The story deals with an episode cccurring a few days after the Armistice was signed, four American soldiers camped as guests of a French mother and daughter, and the com- plications that arise from the appear: ance on the scene of Alphonse Pett! bois, an Amer! n restaurant keeper who claims t the dead son and | brother of th two had been a thief | during his life despite the fact that he had died fighting. for France.
