THOUSANDS PAY TRIBUTE TODAY AT FUNERAL OF RUSH PATRIOT Arthur Gnffith Laid at Rest in Historic Cem- etery at Dublin With Marked Honor DUBLIN, Aug. 16.—(By The Associated Press.)—Ire- land buried another of her distinguished sons today. Ar- thur Griffith was laid to rest in historic Glasnevin ceme- tery, where so many famous patriots after services in the beautiful hedral of the Immaculate Concep tog. Homage to the memory of Griffith was paid by huge crowds, representa- tive of all walks of life. At the cathed ral, along the route of the funeral pro- cession and at the cemetery, they gathera’i to honor his passing. Many attended the solemn requiem high mags for the repose of the soul of the departed leader. The cathedral was crowded and the thousands un- able to gain admission to the edifice stood in the streets outside, following as nearly as possible the service they could not see. The church was represented by Archbishop Berne, of Dublin, who in the full robes of his office, sat on a red brocaded throne to the left of the altar. On either side of the cele brant was a canon and he was assist @4 by a deacon, sub-deacon and mas: ter of ceremonies. America wae represented at the funeral service and in the subsequent imposing cortege to Glasnevin in the person of Michael Francis Doyle, of Philadelphia, who eame from London especially to join in the national trib- ute to Griffith and to place a wreath on his grave.
