Willie Mayfield, Pueblo fighter who claims the colored welterweight cham- pionship of the northwest, arrived in Casper this morning to go into train- ing for his bout July 3 with Eddie St. Clair and is now working out regu- larly at the Casper Athletic club. The Mayfield-St. Clair mill will precede the Perkins-Patterson bout at Jones’ gar- age on the Sandbar and completes a double card which will be backed up by the-best of preliminaries. ‘While neither Patterson nor May- field, have ever appeared here the formur-is said*to be a smashing bat- tler and tho-latter claims the colored welterweight title of this region. Per- kins has quite a following in Casper, especially among the employes of the refineries, where he is a worker, and St. Clair is a popular adjunct to any fight card. George McLeod. who {s promoting the affair believes that Casper fans ‘will turn out in force to witness prize- fighting, provided the price of the tic kets is within reason. For this bout, he has lowered two admittance fee to an unprecedented level and should have a packed house.
