A curiosity with a story of world tragedy behind it has been received by the local posteffice in the form of a registered letter to a resident of the city. The letter comes from Russia and is weighted down by 58 stamps— so many that they cover two and a half times the area of the letter. ‘These stamps represent 392,80) rubles In Russian money. A ruble be fore the war was worth 51.5 cents in oud American coin. It is now worth so little that the banking houses do not receive any exchange quotation on it. Each of the stamps has been reprinted to treble its value, and still is practically worthless. It takes 15 cents to send a-registered@letter to Russia. and a Russian’s wages for a le week to send the same kind of sive to his friend in America. pide ae CHALLENGE ISSUED BY Blé MUDDY BALL CLUB Fall of confidence as a result of their triumph over the Salt Creek Legion team last Sunday, the Big be Casper Muddy baseball aggregation is look- ing for new worlds to -onquer.
