Originally a day of memorial for the North and South—each devout in its belief that each was right, the day has come to be a time of consecrated memory for ali those who have died in any of the three great wars in which the United States has been a participant during the last century. It is meet that we should pause tomorrow to pay tribute ts those who made the supreme sacrifice for their country. Whether of the Blue or the Grey, a Spanish War veteran or a member of the khaki-clad forces of the World war, his memory is to be hallowed with our most hallowed memories and sincere respect. ee ee er or ee fo MEMORIAL DAY In the bustle of business activity we are prone to forget temporarily those sacred memories on which have been builded the ideals of the Ameri- can nation. Memorial day comes once a year, a milestone in the history of those whose deeds made possible.the nation of today. Facing the foe with the supreme courage found only in these whose cause is right, they made the supreme sacrifice that the ideals of liberty, equality and fraternity might be maintained for the America of tomorrow. East, west, north and south—the entire population of the United States should be vitally a part of the proper observance of Memorial day. It is for us the official occasion for rememrance of the untold benefits we enjoy asa result of the wars which have made this country safe for democracy.
