Phone 767 ACCOUNTANTS 2-year-old NEW EXPEDITION OF EXPLORER TO SAL NEXT UNE Enters Into Conference on Proposed Trip to Arctic Basin on Return From Norway. NEW YORK, March 30. — Captain Roald Amundsen, Arctic explorer, re- urned on the Stavangerfjord from a visit to Norway and conferred with those who will be associated with uum in his attempt to arift across the arctic basin. His expedition will set yut from Seattle June 10. With Amundsen was Lieut. Oscar mdal, Norwegian air force ace, who after special training and experience Oying under adveree conditions, will accompany the «x a will be ome of the pilots to handle specially constructed American cruix ng airplanes. The other pilot, Lieut. Dahl, now is on his way to the coust via the Panama canal. Amundsen said.he would reply on his two airplanes and powerful radio and wireless telephone equipment to keep him in constant touch with the outside world and to give his expedi- tion a cruising radius impossible under other conditions, The planes will be designed to per- mit of landing on land or water and will be equipped with fuel tanks for twenty hours flying. In addition each will have wireless equipment. Only one plane will leave the ship at a time, with the second always available for relief work. Amundsen explained the expedition would start June 1, in order not to miss the current which was expect- ed to give them a big start in the 2,000 to 3,000 mile drift. The trip, if successful, would take from 3 to 5 years he said, and his ship, the Maude, should emerge between Nor- way and Greenland. The expelition will take provisions for seven years. The crew of ten men all will be unmarried, as far as Amundsen knows. “You can’t tell these days from one | week to the other whether men are single or not” the explorer remarked with a smile. He added that the expedition might look over the north pole. — British princes and princesses may not marry before the age of 25 with- out the consent of the king.
