Peter Clark MacFarlane, noted lecturer and author, will be the at- traction tonight on the Casper pub- lic school lyceum course in a lecture to be delivered at the high school auditorium at 8 o'clock. “Us Ameri- cans” will be the subject of his ad- dress. Mr. MacFarlane is without equal on the public speaking platform of America today in that he started in the lowest walks of life and scored one success after another until he had attained independence. He used to dig ditches. Then he became a clerk, went to work in a railroad and finally landed a private secretary job. Went to night school; became a court reporter; found this all right but wanted to study dra- matic art—and did! Became an elo- cution teacher; studied to be an ac- tor—and played four years in stock and road shows. Heeded the call of the ministry and took up his pas- torate in a little western town where four years before by ‘ad played “Hamiet.” Faithfally practiced his writing and his articles began to at- tract attention in newspapers and magazines. Became one of Amer- jeafs best knbwn ‘fictionists—nnd today is equally a star in the plat- form world. All of the foregoing is set forth just to show how Peter Clarke Mas- Farlane found the “human touch.” You've read his stories in.the Post and American and other magazines and you can guess now jus: why the human element figures #0 strongly in his Hterary efforts. The call of the story has beckoned Peter Clarké MacFarlane to strange out-of-the-way corners of the world, He was in France and Germany dur- ing and immediately after the war. of the lyceum He visited Italy, England and Mex- ico.
