Here he re- majned three years, coming to Bes- semer, Wyo., in 1888, before Casper was on’ the map. At Bessemer he established a drug store and sold other supplies to the.ranchers and stockmen. In 1893 Casper had be- come visible to the naked eye and it was evident that it would some- time become a village’or trading point so Mr. Blackmore packed up and came to Casper. He remained in business a year when.he sold out ang the next year 1 acquired what is known as the Hat Six x ranch which he still owns. This, in brief is a chronicle of the principal events in the life of Wal- ter A. Blackmore. Of the character of the man too much cannot be said. He is known far and wide and throughout his long residence in this community no one can put his finger on a questionable act. His honesty is a household word. His reputation bears no blemish of shame. Those who have known Mr. Blackmore longest and best esteem him highest. He is just a plain American gentleman of splendid business equipment, sound judg- ment, with a high sense of honor. Candidate For Council, First Ward Edward M. Seaton, candidate for council from the first ward, is one of the strongest men on the Casper Party ticket. His business has taken him to many parts of the country, more es- pecially of the west, where his work stands to the credit of his senius and knowledge as-a builder. ‘With the let down in country-wide construction during the war, Mr. Seaton came to Casper on a brief va- cation to see the city in 1918 and was induced to accept a place with the Standard Oil company as assist- ant superintendent of construction and with this company and the M!1- west Refining company Mr. Sea'rn was associated in the development of the plants of these two great t:- dustrial concerns, It was under Mr. Seaton's direction that the princi- pai part of the refining construction occurred. Mr. Seaton ts interested in public affairs and has had opportunity to study them from many angles, Since becoming a cititzen of Casper he has done his part and !f elected to coun- cil will perform a greater service for the people. Jones is @ young man, ‘well and favorably known in Cas- ‘per where he is associated with Har- ry Free in the real sstate and insur- ance business. He has been a fig- ure in Casper business life for a half dozen years and his business integ- rity and high sense of honor form a big asset in every transaction with which he is concerned. Mr, Jones is the product of an Ohio farm in Van Wert county, where he grew to manhood in an en- vironment of culture. It was here received -his educational train. ing and laid the foundations of his future success. A patt of his education consisted in @ thorough business training and &s @ young man served several years as m bookkeeper and accountant in several manufacturing concerns and as instructor ina business college, both in his native state and | the city of Chicago. ‘ Second Ward For three years of his itfp, previous to coming to Casper, he was en- gaged in the real estate business with one of the largest firms in Cht- cago. This experience gave him an insight into public affairs and trans- actions of magnitude and value that have formed an important part cf his business education. Mr. Jones is a young man of splendid business ability, stands high with his fellows, is allve to all pub- lic matters, favors civic improve- ments and progress in. all lines up- building Casper. He is ® member of the local real estate board and also holds membership in the Na- tional Real Estate board. His can- idacy for council in the second ward is meeting with popular ap- proval and his election is almost certain. Foley, Michael lived the life of most Irish-American youths, with {istic supremacy aid.the love of Blarney winning the love of the lads and colleens, The tenacity of the youth early made itself evident when he started to work on the aectfon of the Pennsylvania railroad, at the age of 14. He worked here for three years under the direction of his father who bad been employed by the raflroad'for 45 years. At the ago of 19, Michnel Foley was the foreman of the Chicago yards for the Pennsylvania road. He left that position to work for a short time for the Northwestern, and then for fen years he was employed by the Union Pacific. During that time he had worked in nearly every capac- ity, being allowed more and more re- sponsible positions as time went on. He was married quite early to Mamie ‘Clifford, a native of Colo- rado and together they came to Wyoming in 1910, practically a de olation at that time. That was about the period that the Burlington line extended only as far as Kirby. At 32 Michael Foley was given charge of the construction work for the that position until the completion Burlington road and retained of the Casper division. He was then promoted to be division. superintend- ent of the Burlington with head- quarters at Casper. It was not long however, after Mr. Foley came to Casper that he quit railroading and became an oil con- tractor. His present posit#en is that of chief operator for the Staley Syn- dicate company in the Salt Creek oll fields. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and had the distinction of being a past grand knight in that organization. He also holds.2 mem- bership in the local order of Elks. Mr. Foley's record of constructive accomplishment is a Iong one, but’ few men can boast of being respon- sible for the construction of four ratlroads. The branch line of the U. P., the Denver-Laramie, the Den- ver Northwestern electric, and the Casper .Burlington division line, have all had the personal supervi- sion of Mr. Foley. For nearly 12 years Michael J. Foley has labored and learned to love Wyoming and Casper.
