CHICAGO, Aug. 18—New down- turns in the price of wheat took place today, with dealers giving continued attention to bearish aspect of the in @ustrial and financial outlook. Unem ployment figures especially remained @ distinct factor. Besides, pit trade was still lacking in volume, Open- ing. quotations, which varied from %c lower to a like advance, with Septem ber $1.29% to $1.19% and December $1.20% to $1.21%3, were followed by @ material setback all around. About the only support was from traders who had sold at higher fig- ures. The market closed heavy, 2c to 3%c net lower with September 31.16% —to $1.16% and December $1.17% to $1.17%5. Corn was easy with wheat. After opening a shade off to Yc up, includ- ing September at 54%c to 54%4c, the market averaged a little lower all around. Three carloads of equipment -have agrived for the Choteau Oil and Gas company at Choteau, and is. being moved to the rig near the Petroleum Exploration well site on the Willow Creek structure and it is expected that the company will spud in its well within the next 10 days, information reaching here today declared. The well is on the site selected by Eugene Stebinger, United States geological survey gedlogist, as the most favor- able pla for drilling. The Unit Off and Gas company, with head offices in Spokane, is moving drilling equipment to location on the upper Stillwater above Dean and about three miles below Nye on the south side of the river. The rig is being moved from the Cat Creek field by motor trucks. The Ringlings of circus ‘famé are said to be interested in the project. ‘The Johnson County Wildcat. ‘The Western Exploration company will undertake development of a tract of land in Billie Creek oil structure near Buffalo in Johnson county at an early date according to the terms of contract which was signed at Buf- falo between the officers of the com. pany and Isaac B. Smith, F. G. Hesse and others. Western Exploration is said to have been represented in the Jeal by B. B. Brooks. . The field which is featured in the ra stion is one that has been drill- ut never to any considerabl depth. A rig and drilling outfit wate is now on the property will be put in shape by Western Exploration before grilling is undertaken. No estimate was made of the com- pletion in the Salt Creek field, but a report of 150 barrels obtained for the Rock River well which was developed near the 3,: foot = level. This well was one of the three deep- est wells which were being worked in the field. One of the other deep holes on the Dixon farm is expe- riencing trouble at 3,072 feet another is sidetracking tools at 3,358 feet. The deepest well in the field on section 14-19-78 is shutdown at 3,568 feet wait- ing the results of the findings in the other deep holes. ‘The Ohio company has now virtu- ally completed its development pro- gram of the Salt Creek field, only! one well remaining to be completed.
