WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6, 1921 OLYMPICS PAY QUT IN GRoH Financial Statement Just, Issued Shows Keen Interest in International Games ANTWERP, April 6.—The Olympic games of 1920 were a success from both @ financial and attendance stand- point, according to a complete and de- tailed statement just iss by the Belgium Olympic executive commit- tee. The attendance and receipt fig- ures attached to the report show that the keen interest displayed in the soccer football play helped greatly to lift the international competition across the line which divides failure and success, While only 28,605 persons, alf told, paid admission, other than holders of season tickets to the stadium, to wit- ess the athletic games in which /nmerica triumphed, 63,612 persons paid to see the Olympic football games. A total of 219,689 persons paid to see the Olympic games, Includingsice hockey, ahd all other sports, and, ac- cording! to the committee, this number excceded the attendance at Stock- holm, and put the 1920 Olympiad on an attendance footing equal to that of most of its predecessors. The detailed report, showing atten- dance and revenues from admissions to all Olympic events gives an in- teresting index to the sport prefer- ences of Europeans. It follows: Spec. ARMY BANDMASTER AT CHEYENNE 13 DEAD (Special to The Tribune) CHEYENNE, Wyo., April 6.—Cap- tain Claude H. Rossignol, 60, a retired army bandmaster who was a com poser of some note, died here Tues- day, afternoon, suddenly, from the ef. fects of kidney trouble. His body 1s being held at the Early-Bricker Bros. mortuary, awaiting instructions from his_aged mother, who resides in New York, and from a daughter whose ad- dress is not as yet known here. Captain Rossignol, who flossessed 2 strikingly military figure on which the uniform “sat” imposingly, served for many years as an army band lead er, his term of service including the period of the world war. He was re- tired while serving at Fort Russell about two years ago, but thereafter acted as an instructor at the fort. He organized the Unlon Pacific band of this city and otherwise was promi- nent in local .musical affairs. ‘ Captain Rossignol ate a hearty din- ner at noon Tuesday and observed that he was “¢eling well. A few min- utes later id collapsed and death came while he was being taken to a hospital. Miss Freer gave a delightful mu- sical recital at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Schwartz in Rawlins, to which nearly all of the Casper Shrin- ers and their wives were invited. Miss © gave a demonstration, singing alternately with a recreation machine, her new record “Pick-a-ninny Rose," and all proclaimed it a real musical treat. This was one of the big affairs of the evening which was heralded as one of the big social events of the season in Rawlins. Efforts to bring Miss Freer, who possesses a beautiful soprano voice, to Casper were unavailing, as she must report shortly in New York City to ful- fill her contract with the Edison com- pany. She has promised, however, to pay # visit at an early date and music lovers here who know Miss Freer nre anticipating the event. German Papers “Disappointed” vy’ In Hughes Note BERLIN, April 6.—(By The Asso- ciated Press).—German newspapers which comment on the communica- tion from Secretary Hughes regard- ing the reparation question are also a unit in expressing disappointment. ‘They find in it no basis for the oy mism which had been professed in some quarters that the United States would support Germany financially or give her moral backing to secure a revision of the indemnity demands and the carrying out of the restitution provi- sions of the peace treaty. The pan-German organs take occa- sion to criticize the "Vashington ad- ministration for its “insistence upon the false assertion that Germany brot on the war and must accept the re- sponsibility for it.” The only Hght seen by the press as a whole is in the phrase de¢laring that Germany is “morally bound to make reparation so far as Tage Ne: niente be possible.’" EME NT 1S POURED FOR *S GONSISTORY T EM PLE (Special to The Tribune) CHEYENNE, W » April 6.—Con- crete forms, among the largest over constructed in Wyoming, for moulding the massive foundation of the Wyo- ming Consistory temple are being put in place and the “pouring” of the foundation began Wednesday. SECOND NOTE SENT JAPAN WASHINGTON, April 6.—Secre- tary Hughes has refused to discuss published reports that the American government had sent a second note to Japan on the subject of the Island of Yap in particular and mandates in general, In a note sent some months ago the United States refused to rec- ognize the Japanese mandate over Yap and other former German island possessions north of the equator. Japan is understood to have replied to this note insisting on its right to the mandate over Yap by reason of its granting allied supreme coun- cll and offering to permit the Tinited States to control the Guam end of the Guam-Yap cable. > FUNERAL SERVICES THURSDAY Funeral services for Baby Marie Jardine will be held Thursday after- noon at 3 o’clock from the home on South McKinley.
