Beerd, sec- retary of the state board of health, has been identified as the fellow who here, a day or two before the Chey- enne crime, attempted to induce the Red Cross to advance him sufficient money to purchase transportation for himself and wife to Oklahoma. He also attempted to borrow money from former soldiers here, stating that he was an ex-soldier. He obtained from the Red Cross a sufficient amount of money to purchase food for himself and wife.
