Engineering Feat Predicted i in Building Line Across| amatsamatea Royalty 8 - ~ PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION OF NEXT YEAR TO BE EXTENSIVE IN STATE ya (ukicei | Big Horns from Salt Creek; Numerous Projects Are Expected to Start Early Next Year Pipelines carrying gas and crude from Wyoming oil fields to refineries, shipping points and towns to be served by gas will be supplemented by extensive improvement during the coming year if projeets surveyed and authorized are carried thr Numerous fields will have marketing faci to conclusion. provided and increased by this A pipeline to connect the Salt Creek field and intermediate points with the refinery at Greybull, Wyo., is the larg- est of these projects and; will constitute an engineering feat. line company has completed the surveys for this line over the Big Horn moun- tains by way of Lost Cabin and thence to connect with the existing line at Chatam, north of Thermopolis, The line as projected will be of eight-inch pipe and will be the highest altitude line in the country, Its course will parallel the Natrona-Johnson county line to a point north of Lost Cabin, then across the Painted desert to Bridger creek, up this stream to the head, and crossing the range through @ gap in the mountains near the Reed ranch. It will go down Kirby creek to meet the present. line from the Grass creek field to Chatam, Another ptoject of importance is a reported plan of the Illinois Pipeline company to build from Riverton to the Maverick Springs fielt, in Fremont county, where there are eleven com- pleted wells with an aggregate produc- tion of 1,200 to 1,300 barrels a day. Three of these were drilled by the Sheridan-Wyoming company, two by the Carter company four by the Qhio and one by the Midwest, in addition to another on top of the sand. Two sur- veys have been made, one to the Bur- lington at Emery and the other to Riverton, the former being eight or ten miles shorter than the Riverton route: Refinery facilities at Riverton are ex- pected to bring the delivery In Carbon county, Wyo., the General Petroleum company has completed sur- veys from the Ferris field to Rawlins for a line to be built next, year and an- nouncement has been made of a mon- ster gas line to be constructed from the same region thru Rawlins and Lara- mie to Cheyenne, an ample supply of gas being assured. From the Lost Sol- dier field to Fort Steele the pipeline, it is understood, will be enlarged to ac- commodate larger deliver tt is ade- quate at present to take care of pro- duction and an intensive development program was recently inaugurated in this district by the discovery of a fifth oil bearing sand. The Bolton Creek field, nearly south of Casper, will be connected with a pipe- line next year, according to officials of | the Iowa-Wyoming company, which js speeding up its development program. Several additional wells should be com- pleted in this field before the advent of cold weather. All this is in addition to pipeline proj- . ects radiating from the Osage fields, where production will demand great improvements in present lines. Announcement of plans for Salt Creek connections with Greybull is taken as a result of the demand for crude following the heavy calls for gasoline in the past year, and this move on the part of the Illinois Pipeline company is supple- mented by the activities of the Mid- west, which firm is changing its Grey bull plant in some ‘of its batteries of stills in order that the h avy oils from the Embar and Ten Sleep sand’ may be handled to t ter dvantage, ars the black’ oils of n have been a drug on the et and the refiners here, having equipped their plants to handle a para- Mn base crude only, have refused to| refine the heavier oils while they could| the better grades which produced | Kketable products with less work and} expense. | ~~ A land without home government is ineapable of self government.
