PRICE OF CORN SLUMPS BELOW DOLLAR IN K.C. KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 20.—For the first time since ‘the summer of 1917 the price of corn fell below $1 a bushel here today, Contracts for December delivery dropped to 997-8 cents. were offered substantial inducements for their holdings but they decided not to sell. The Maverick Springs crude is a heavy oil similar in grade to that of the Dallas field. It has a comparative- ly small gasoline content but is rich in | lubricants. The . Riverton-Wyoming ; Refining company has authorized. the installation of a plant for the recev- ery of the lubricants from the oil which it is handling from the Dallas field and will be in a position to handle the Mav: erick Springs crude. The company has been offered the crude from Maverick Springs and a committee was appoint- ed to confer with representatives of the Illinois Pipe Line company and the Midwest Refining company regard- ing this arrangement. The first well in Maverick Springs was completed early in 1918 by the Sheridan-Wyoming company, after which the other companies brought in) several producers. It is estimated that the field now has 3,000 to 4,000 bar- rels a day shut-in production. = Another Good Osage Weil. Producers & Refiners corporation at! two feet in the sand, with a total depth | of 1,513 feet, apparently has as good'a well in No. 2, section 25-46-64 of the Osage district in Wyoming, as its No. | 1 in the same section which started off with an initial maximum daily out- put of 100 barrels and is now pumping fifty barrels a day. No. 2 is in the northeast quarter of} the southeast quarter and about 2,000 feet southeast of No. 1. It will be drilled deeper and put to pumping.
