Hudson Fineness Equals Its Matchless Performance Aside from the Supremacy of the Exclusive Super-Six Motor, Its Beauty Gives Distinction in Any Field of Fine Cars Hudson has unremittingly kept the issue of performance to the fore. not simply be- cause its mastery is indisputable. Rather because this question is vital above all. It must always be so. It must always be the measure of any car’s title to worth. aang Hence undue emphasis has never been placed on Hudson’s four years’ leadership in fine car sales. Largest sales are not in- fallibly proof of greatest merit. Hudson has no need to offer them as such. Yet their importance cannot be over- looked. Here is the massed opinion of far the greatest number of owners of any fine car in the world. Some are driving the earliest Super-Sixes built—now more than four years old. Some acquired Hudsons but recently. But how unanimously they hold no car ean rival it. What 90,000 Owners Know First Hand Those who have had their Hudsons long- est are perhaps its most emphatic cham- pions. They know it best. They have seen it pitted with triumph against every situa- 1 Velie (6) 1 Chalmers 1 Dodge 1 Hudson Speedster 1 Hudson Seven- Passenger OUR NEW LOCATION Corner Second St. and Yel- lowstone Highway Phone 1406 1 Kissel &§ i Bg tion that can confront an automobile. To- day their Super;Sixes are giving service, such as is literally beyond the perform- ance capacity of many new cars that cost more. me Certainly no fine car is so highly regard- ed by such a large following. See What It Has Done Were its position less deserved could Hudson hold the loya of all these? Were its supremacy less decisive, surely five years must have discovered the rightful suc- cessor. But time only brings fresh evidence of Hudson leadership. In speed—in power—in acceleration—in hill-climbing, have never been matched. The most abusive tests to which a car was ever subjected have failed to find its endurance limit. Could other types adopt it, they might share Hudson’s unmatched ability. But Hudson controls it. By right of invention Hudson alone can use it. It will not be possible to supply all who want Hudsons. So even though you may not want your car for several months, now is not too early to place your order. The clutch is continually being teleased for quick stops and the motor usually races. Even the most careful driver can hardly pre- vent it. Try it yourself and see. A moment’s racing wears the motor more than several miles of steady pulling. Quick starts are necessary. Most drivers jam down the accelerator. This strains and wears not only the motor but every moving part of the truck. And it sucks in an excess quantity of gas—makes the mixture too rich—wastes gas needlessly—fouls the cylinders and spark plugs. The Clydesdale is the only truck on the market that is protected against all these difficulties. The Clydesdale controller does it—an exclu- sive patented device called by users ‘‘The Driver Under the Hood.” When the clutch is thrown out the controller automatically cuts down the gas, preventing the motor from racing. When a quick start is made even though the accelerator pedal is jammed down suddenly it acts through the controller which has just enough dampening effect to prevent excess gas being sucked into the cylinders. The “pick up’ is just as quick as on any truck but it is smooth— no shock or strajn on the parts. When hills, mud, sand or snow are encountered the “Driver Under the Hood” opens and closes the throttle automatically, keeping the truck moving at the same rate of speed. All the driver has to do is to set the hand throttle lever for the speed he wishes to maintain. The “Driver Under the Hood” does the rest. Savings accomplished by the Clydesdale controller amount to hundreds of dollars a year. Clydesdale owners say the savings in gas alone amounts to 10% on their investment. Yet this is only one of many advanced fea- tures found on the Clydesdale. The copper tube, trouble-proof radiator with the heavy guard bars—the massive frame of extra depth —the design and ‘“thook up” practically a dup- licate of the General Omnibus Truck—the most famous and most efficient truck in the world. This fact is admitted by all truck experts. Go and examine the Clydesdale and you wiH see why it was the first American built truck to be approved for army service by the Allied forces—why it has gained in four years’ time a place among the four best selling trucks in the world.
