Ree re STSCE AAIL LINE INTO CAT GREEK Io NOW PROJECTED Great Northern to Build Branch) Line If Completions Guarantee Future, Montana Reports Declare. ving the visit of L. W, Hill of at Northern Railway Company Creek oil field in the central of Montana, announcement was ade that a branch line is to be built this year by this company to the field future completions warrant the out- y of money needed to build the road. The Great Northern owns the rail- road line jointty with the Chicago, Mil- waukee and Paul Iread Company to Winnett, the ne rail point to the Cat Creek field. The Northern Pacific, which is said to own the Great North ern Comp: is itself the owner of thousands of acres of land embraced in this field. Recent completion of a water well close to the well of the Frantz Cor- poration, 4 ported from the field, is suid not to be discouraging to the com- panies interested in this part of the district, pcaus¢ many geologists agree that the oil found in the Frantz well has its origin in the third sand, which has not been reached yet in any part of the field. ntz well is said to have made arrels daily recently ,but is shut n ncw because of inability to ob- n tanks for the storage of oil. The Ohio well, drilling on Brush Creek ,about ten miles west of the Cat Creek structure, got a water well after drilling into the seventh sand. The hole probably will be abandoned, it is said here and there is little likelihood t_the Ohio will drill any more wells in the Brush Creek structure. The water well reported near the No. 2 well of the Frantz is to be drilled to the deep sand, as will another several miles to the east and near the discov ery well, it is rey reported. Se Court Reporter to Enter Contest for Speed in Shorthand Leslie C, Finley, official court repor- ter for the district court, left last night for Chicago to commence a six weeks’ training course in shorthand for the annual contest of the National Short- hand Reporters’ Association, which will be held in Denver in August. Mr. Finley has a most remarkable ed rord in both shorthand and ing and is the only reporter iaking position here who passed the re- the quirement of 125 words a minute: at the first test, the committee of the bar association stated, when he was ex- amined. —_——— ——<—_——_—————__ "en | Road Bulletin — | o——_.
