THURSDAY, MAY 27, 1920 5 be Casper Daily Cribune PAGE SEVEN SEAT SALEFOR NEXT CANTATA ALREADY LARGE Appreciation of Choral Society Works Stands Out; “The Sleeping Beauty” Appro- priate for Summer More than 100 tickets for “The Sleep, ing Beauty,,’ the cantata which will be nted by the Casper Choral society a week from tonight, have already been sold by Prof. Rudolph Lundberg. ‘The remaining 200 will be placed in the hands of members of the chorus this evening when a full rehearsal of cho. ruses and solo parts will be held at the Presbyterian church beginning at 8:15. This cantata is without doubt one of the most beautiful ever written, and it js particularly appropriate for rendi- tion at a summer music festival. The story is that of the beautiful princess upon whom at her christening a malicious fairy pronounces: a curse, proclaiming that she shall die on her 20th birthday. The good fairies de- clare that she shall not die but fall into a deep sleep instead, until awakened by a lover. The chorus which tells of the sleep- ing palace and the solo in which the witch weaves her spells causing a hedge of red roses to surround the home of the princess are especially ef- fective bits of musical composition. The ‘solo parts in the work will be taken’ by Mrs. E, C. Gates, Mrs. O. W. Hillgren, Mrs. P. W. Frank, M Bur- ton Nye, Mrs. Lyle Branson, Beatrice Boedefeld, sopranos; Mrs. Lord, Mrs, F. J. Leschinsky, Mrs. E. Sundwell, altos; C. E, Hood, tenors; and Ray Cook, hass. Mrs. C. E. Wygant will play the ac- companiments.
