EXTENSION OF QoAGE POSSIBLE Upton-Thorton Region to Be Test-| ed Out Again by Larger Companies A number of are now active in the district north- west of Newcastle and towards Thorn- ton and Upton. The Producers & Re- finers corporation has completed a bridge across Beaver creek at the Mc- Cullough ranch and is moving in ren] terial to a location on section 25-46-64 This will make the second location on that section and it lies east of sec- tion 19, on which the discovery well was brot in, by three miles. The Mid- west has taken over sections 34 and| 85 of 46-63, and the Ohio Oil company and the oming are both taking up Jands towards Thornton, northwest of} Upton. It appears now as tho the former Upton and Thornton development will sgain receive a going over, as the old wells of the Southwest Oj] company that were drilled some years ago are to be cleaned out and an effort made to make them produce. This develop- ment has been going on for many years and is a shallow oil proposition like the Osage was before the deep well on section 10 was discovered possi-| bilities in the deeper strata. The Southwest Oil company drilled 2 well near Newcastle about three years ago and also worked with several oth- er wells in the immediate neighbor- hood that had been drilled for many but the Southwest did not ap-| ar to make a paying business Sut of it and the field was practically aban- doned when the Osage excitement start- ed work again. West of Upton and Thorton the Sundance neighborhood had several shallow wells that, lke the other operations, promised big at first, but failed to come up to expect- tions. These wells were found at from} 100 to 200 feet’ and showed a good grade of oil. The Richfort Wyoming} company is the present owner of the} wells in this field.
