PAGE FOUR RIVERTON SEES Agoe 9 IN GAS Carter Well Blows Blows. Tools Out of Hole but Will Be Deepened for Oil Test (Special to ‘The Tribune.) RIVERTON, Feb. 25.—Field §; “trun tendent Loucks of the Carter, Of Oil cor pany, ‘which has extensiyé holdings ih the Sand Draw field, states on ‘his re- turn from that field where the’ com- pany has drilled into the gas sand, that the’ gas pressure blew the tools out of the hole, and after having gone thru 104 fect of sand, and the pressure and flow increasing with each screw, that {t will be @ matter of underream- ing the six-inch casing, or uctempting to mud thé gas off, to get to he sec- ond sand, which is generally. believed to be oll bearing. Tt ia estimated that this. well will be as large a gasser as the wells of the Producers & Refiners, which fre Igeated from one-half to two and gne- half miles from it, this well being in section four, and the others jin sec- tions 10, 15 and 22, respectively. The flow of this well and ‘the depth of the san4 tend.te preye that the field is of large area. Tests have not as yet been made of the gasoline content, however, it may be aseumed that it is equally as high in gasoline and carbon black content, as the other wells that have been test- ed, ana may ultimately prove more vatuable than a small oil producer, if slut in ax a gas well. Pittaburgh parties are now negotiat- ing for the building of the gas line and carbon black plant, and may plan. to include \the Alkali Butte field, which would require {but a slight fletour to attach this swell, which is About six miles nearer the town of Riverton than the Sand Draw field, and’which would augment the supply to such an extent that the combined supply of the two fields wovld furnish a town, with all its industries, twice the size of the city of) Denver for a period of ten to 15 years with an abundance of cheap fuel, or for a town of this size and large carbon black plant, for the same period. Two Additional wells will be. drilled in this field by the Producers & Re finers this season. Much acreage is changing hands be- tween the and Draw field and Alkali Butte, in Conant Creek dome, and de- velopment work is steadily pushed in spite of the’ road conditions. Trucks are making frequent trips to the Horseshoe ‘structure with oil for fuel for the Ohio and Midwest, which will resume operations at an early date. npbaahinattorne ini ids NAVY GOBS ENJOY FEAST AT 1G BEAVER HOTEL returned fyom Denvey whe re they, went last) week to attend the ‘Get ‘Tomther’! banquet for membels of the Denver navy recruiting district held Sunday.
