HUMOR AND PATHOS MIXED IN RIGHT PROPORTIONS IN LYRIC'S SUNDAY FEATURE Elsie Janis as a “Regular Girl”, re-| minds oné of the stage work of Miss Janis which placed her before the pub- lic and made her a favorite with the boys “over there.” The Janis picture us shown at the Lyric theater: Satur- day and Sunday, is a pleasjng picture, the only regret being that her unusual Stago talent should have been trifled with by the author. Starting out with a scene of unusual possibilities, the action and interest is retained until Miss Janis gets back from entertaining the beys in the hospitals of France. ‘Miss Janis actually did this and there is no acting about this part of the pieture. The temainder of the story is pateh- ed too much and lacks the action-to keep up with the pace set in the first of the picture: This, in spite of the} dramatic appeal created presymably at Miss Janis’ instigation—that of secur- ing “good” jobs for returned soldiers and other gervice men. But those who like a light mixture | of humor, pathos, and Janis’ acting. | found it in the Lyric week-end pro-} gram, No As soon as people were told to wear) thelr last year's ‘clothes, the price of thread and clothes brushes went up.— Washington Star, . Hes where the particular smoker meets the particular smoke—Chester- field. Particular is right! the four choicest varieties of Turkish to- bacco—Xanthi, Cayalla, Smyrna and Sam- soun—but to these we add the rich, sun- | ripened leaves of speci tobacco. Fine as these tobaccos are, it’s the ex- | clusive process by which they are blended that gives to Chesterfields that, satisfying body, that mellow richness which makes a smoke mean something. r Chesterfields certainly do satisfy as no other cigarette has satisfied you before— and to top it off, they are packed in a glass- ine paper package that preserves for you all of that delicious flavor. odes = Not only do we use Oo so este ste a% trees ally choice Domestic PPG OG A nice Suit or Overcoat or Mackinaw would be greatly appreciated by any man or boy as a gift at any time, and especially on CHRISTMAS DAY.
