The field is creating a great deal of attention and numerous other! companies have commenced opera- tions, , there being twelve rigs now; working in the district. The Mike} Henry Oil company intends to place! several other rigs on its holdings’ within a short time. The foltowing item from the Wyoming Oil News, gives an idea of the work going on in the Osage vicinity. The Osage field in Weston county, | which began to attract attenion when the Mike Henry Oil Co. brot in a well recently will be the scene of considerable activity this winter and spring according to present indica- tions, large companies are working in the | district and there is considerable leas- iny and locating of land under way.| Two government agents were in the district last week checking up on op-! erations and some fears have been! entertained that the lands not al- ready taken up may be withdrawn. The Mike Henry well is on section 5-46n-63w, near the town of Osage, on the Burlington road. The opera- tions center lergely around this well but investigations are extending over a large area and as far west as Camp- bell and Johnson counties which are ; not listed among the oil producing counties. Neither, however, has becn prospected to any great extent. The Osage field is about 45 miles north of the Mule Creek development @ eastern Niobrara county, 12 to 15 miles northwest of the Newcastle field, in which small quantities of oil have been found at a shallow depth, and 18 miles southeast of the Thorn- ton field where there are a number of light producers. The Mike Henry | Go, 1s weil fortified with acreage in the Osage field. It has a total of 22,000 acres of which 15,000 acres ate patented. The company has mov- éd six rigs into the district and ex- pects to prosecute development on a large scale.
